Chain Link Fence Calculator
Chain link fencing is the most economical option for securing large areas. Galvanized steel mesh is stretched between posts with a top rail for support. Standard heights are 4, 5, and 6 feet. The diamond-pattern mesh allows airflow and visibility while containing pets and marking property lines. Vinyl-coated chain link (black or green) offers a more attractive appearance.

Advantages
- Most affordable fencing ($8–$15/ft)
- Extremely durable—15–25 year lifespan
- Minimal maintenance—no painting or staining
- Transparent—doesn’t block views or airflow
- Fast installation for large areas
Considerations
- No privacy without slats or screening
- Industrial appearance
- Can be bent or dented by impact
- Posts may lean over time without proper bracing
Installation Tip
Stretch the mesh from terminal post to terminal post using a come-along or fence stretcher tool. Install tension wire at the bottom to prevent animals from pushing under. For privacy, add vinyl slats or privacy screen after installation.
